Haunted Hues, Scary-oke and Pumpkin Carving in Jamaica, Queens

Three October 2026 Fridays bring making and music to High Functions: Open Paint & Craft: Haunted Hues on October 9, Scary-oke on October 16, and Pumpkin Carving on October 23. Each starts at 6 PM inside Silk Road NYC at 166-30 Jamaica Ave, Jamaica NY 11432. The calendar confirms that pumpkins are provided for the carving evening.

High Functions is a community and cowork event space for 21+ with ID, with entry with a $20+ purchase per person. Nothing is consumed on site. The events calendar contains the current listings. The older photographs here show the venue’s creative history, rather than activities already held for October 2026.

A painting program with several chapters

The earliest dated High Functions post in this export, published April 23, 2024, described a Y2K-themed painting gathering as the venue’s first event. A November 6 recap later named Canvas in the Clouds: What Do You Meme, with TuffpuffQueenz leading a painting based on Fry from Futurama.

The program continued into 2025. January’s Canvas in the Clouds announcement named K. Diazz and a 7 PM start. February’s edition added glow-in-the-dark painting, with doors at 6 PM and painting at 7 PM. A partner recap then documented a March 28 session based on the Patrick Starr meme, also led by K. Diazz.

High Functions advertised a metallic edition for April 4 and another What Do You Meme session for June 6. Those variations show how a recurring creative format could take on different subjects and materials. October 2026’s Haunted Hues listing identifies open painting and crafts with a Halloween palette; it does not name an instructor or a specific painting to reproduce.

Pumpkin carving with Kay

A recap posted by High Functions on October 22, 2024 described pumpkin carving with Kay and the group’s jack-o’-lantern designs. The surviving cover shows a carved pumpkin, providing a direct visual link to that seasonal activity. The caption is retrospective, so October 22 is the verified posting date rather than a proven workshop date.

For October 23, 2026, the current calendar supplies the new date and confirms pumpkins. Tool arrangements, space availability and any further activity instructions should come from the event listing or host. The older carving recap supplies background without adding unannounced promises to this year’s session.

Karaoke before Scary-oke

High Functions advertised karaoke alongside Crazy 8’s in June 2024. A February 14, 2025 announcement brought back singing under the Love is Lit name. In November 2025, the account announced High Functions Idol for November 14, then described the completed event as its first edition and said it would become monthly.

The singing program continued in the May 2026 calendar, which named High Functions Idol Karaoke. An August 2026 announcement advertised Mall G and Sean Conn as special guests, with Vic Rivers of DNA leading the evening. Those names belong to that announcement; they are not a guest list for Scary-oke. October 16’s listing promises Halloween karaoke without identifying performers or judges.

Three visits within the wider month

The October overview connects these Fridays to Game Night, Tuesday tournaments and the third annual HalloW33D. The event-space history follows the broader creative program, and the venue page explains High Functions.

Store hours are Sun–Wed 10 AM–9 PM and Thu–Sat 10 AM–10 PM. These October events start at 6 PM; historical painting start times belong to their original dates. Silk Road NYC operates under license OCM-CAURD-24-000062.
