How to Choose a Dispensary in Queens

More licensed dispensaries open in Queens every month, and by law every one of them sells products from New York growers, so the shelves overlap more than the signs suggest. This is the checklist I would use if I were the customer, written from behind the counter at 166-30 Jamaica Ave.

1. Check the license before anything else

Every legal adult-use store in New York holds a license from the Office of Cannabis Management, and you can look any store up on the OCM dispensary verification page in a few seconds. Licensed stores sell lab-tested, tracked products; a smoke shop with a jar on the counter does not.

Ours is OCM-CAURD-24-000062, issued to NYSE3AU-RETAIL INC. DBA Silk Road NYC at 166-30 Jamaica Ave. We opened on February 23, 2024 as the 75th licensed adult-use dispensary in the state.

2. Ask what delivery really costs before you build a cart

Delivery fees and order minimums change by distance, and the surprise usually comes at checkout. Ask first. Ours, straight from our delivery settings:

Type your ZIP on the delivery page to see your exact fee, minimum and time before you order. Every delivery comes with live driver tracking.

3. Compare today's prices, not the sign in the window

Window signs and old screenshots go stale fast. Look at the live menu on the day you buy. Ours is on the menu page, with current deals on the specials page.

If another licensed New York dispensary has a better live price on the same product, show us at the counter and we will match it, to the best of our ability, down to our own cost.

4. Read the reviews for that exact address

A store that is part of a group can show a review count pooled across several locations. Open the Google listing for the specific address you will walk into and read what people say about that counter.

Ours are all from 166-30 Jamaica Ave: 4.8 stars from 600+ Google reviews, earned here since February 2024.

5. Know who is behind the counter

Ask who owns the store and whether the staff can tell you what a product actually does for people, not just what the box says. Silk Road holds a social-equity CAURD license, is owned and run by a Jamaica, Queens local, and the owner is at the store. More about me.

6. Pickup, delivery and hours that fit your day

We are open 10 AM to 9 PM Sunday through Wednesday and 10 AM to 10 PM Thursday through Saturday. Order online for pickup and skip the line, or get same-day delivery across Queens. You can pay with cash or debit at the counter. Call or text the store at (347) 233-3879 with any question.

FAQ

How do I know if a dispensary in Queens is licensed?

Look it up on the NY Office of Cannabis Management dispensary verification page. Every licensed adult-use store has an OCM license number. Silk Road NYC's is OCM-CAURD-24-000062.

How much does cannabis delivery cost in Queens?

It depends on distance. At Silk Road NYC, delivery in Jamaica (11432–11436) is $1 with a $50 minimum, and central Queens is $5 with a $75 minimum. Farther zones cost more. Enter your ZIP on our delivery page for your exact fee.

Do you price match other dispensaries?

Yes. Show us a live price from any licensed New York dispensary on the same product, or a comparable one, and we match the pre-tax price at the register to the best of our ability, down to our own cost.

Why do review counts differ so much between stores?

Some stores that belong to a group show reviews pooled across several locations. Check the Google listing for the exact address you plan to visit.
