Who Makes Loud Star Rosin: the Hash Washers Behind the Jar

A New York micro, an Emerald Cup pedigree in the wash room, N.Y.Ceeds Z genetics in the mix, and a breeder picking the cuts. That is why these five grams hit the way they do.

Who Makes Loud Star Rosin: Ahti and Higher Ground Genetics | Silk Road NYC

Rosin is an honest product. There is no solvent to hide behind and no distillate to boost the number, so the jar is only as good as two things: the plant that went into the ice water, and the hands that washed it. Loud Star, the Sullivan County microbusiness whose first licensed drop landed on our shelf on October 24, built its rosin program around exactly those two things, and the brand is open about who it brought in.

Loud Star cold cure rosin jars

Ahti: the wash room

Ahti is a California solventless house that has been washing ice water hash and pressing live rosin since 2017. Its trophy shelf is public: 1st place Solventless at the 2017 Emerald Cup for its Pink Lemonade ice water hash, 1st place Non-Solvent Hash at the 2018 High Times NorCal Cannabis Cup, 2nd place Ice Water Hash at the 2022 Emerald Cup, and 2nd place Live Rosin at the 2023 Emerald Cup for the El Krem Moroccan Peaches collaboration. In solventless circles, that is about as decorated as a wash team gets.

Loud Star says Ahti worked the wash on this first run. If you have had Ahti's Pria or its Z crosses out west, two of the names on our shelf, Derb Sherb Pria and Crème de la Z, will look familiar.

Higher Ground Genetics: the plants

Hash makers have a phrase, "washer genetics," for cultivars whose trichome heads break off clean and intact in cold water. Most strains do not; a beautiful flower can wash at a one percent return and come out greasy. Picking cuts that wash well is a breeder's job, and Loud Star credits Higher Ground Genetics with that side of the project: selecting and dialing in the plants that became these five jars. Higher Ground is the breeder behind Grapefruit Starburst (Starburst #36 crossed back to itself), the cut that, washed by Master Makers, took gold at the 2026 California State Fair Cannabis Awards, placed second at the Hashathon Cup in Los Angeles that August, and was a High Times Strain of the Month in September 2026. That is exactly the résumé you want on the plant side of a solventless project.

That pairing, breeders choosing for the wash and a wash team that has won on the biggest solventless stage in the country, is unusual for a New York micro in its first month. It is the reason this rosin tests the way it does and, more to the point, tastes the way it does.

N.Y.Ceeds: the Z in the mixes

The Z side of the lineup has a New York signature too. Loud Star says the Z crosses in this run carry lines from N.Y.Ceeds, the New York City seed house run by breeder T.H. Caeczar, whose catalog reads like a subway map: Madison Zquared Garden, Zkyscraperz, Zubway Seriez, Zu-Tang Clan, New York SnickerbockerZ. N.Y.Ceeds built its reputation by taking SpritZer and crossing it into Hazes, Chems, Zkittlez, OGs, Diesels and Papayas instead of re-releasing the same RuntZ and Gelato crosses as everyone else, which is exactly the kind of terpene range a hash maker wants to wash. When you taste the sour candy in ZK or the cream and fruit in Crème de la Z, that is where it comes from.

Two more names the brand credits in the genetics: Lempire Farmaseed, the breeder behind the limonene-heavy Lem lines, whose founder stood at our counter in our first months and walked the staff through his lemon genetics, and The Healing of the Nations, a small-batch breeder built on an heirloom landrace from Ethiopia's northern highlands, with seed stock tied to Axum and Lalibela and a stated commitment to send half of its heirloom proceeds back to projects in Ethiopia. None of this is for clout. It is a New York micro putting serious genetics and serious hands into a jar priced for the neighborhood, for the culture.

The five, with the lab numbers

  • GMO, 78.8% THC / 94.0% total cannabinoids (Kaycha lot 025). Garlic, fuel and deep funk; the heavy one.
  • Derb Sherb Pria, 77.0% / 91.3% (lot 068). Sherbet sweetness with a citrus-peach finish.
  • ZK, 71.9% / 88.4% (lot 066). Zkittlez candy with a sour edge.
  • Nectar of the Poppy, 70.3% / 85.9% (lot 069). Floral and mimosa-bright.
  • Crème de la Z, 66.4% / 79.1% (lot 067). Cream and tropical fruit over a Z base.

Every gram is pressed from the same never-remediated, living-soil, water-fed harvests as the Loud Star flower, and every lot passed Kaycha's full compliance panel. Thirty grams of each strain came in on October 26.

Price

$60 a gram list. Through October 31 the whole Loud Star brand is 25% off at the register and online, which puts the rosin at $45 before tax. For a gram with this pedigree, that is the best solventless price we have ever put on the wall.

How to dab it

Low temperature. Rosin burns off its flavor above about 550°F; a terp slurper or an e-rig at 480 to 520°F keeps the terpenes that the whole wash was designed to protect. We stock the Terp Slurp Pump and Octave Terp Timer for exactly this, and the dab bar in the lounge will show you.

How to get it

Every Loud Star listing is on the live menu with the lab THC on the card. Pickup is at 166-30 Jamaica Ave at Merrick Blvd, one block from Jamaica Center (E/J/Z). Delivery covers Queens: $1 on $50+ inside Jamaica (11432 to 11436); every other zone and fee is on the delivery page. 21+ with valid government ID.

Menus move daily. When a strain sells through, the listing drops off the same hour, so the menu is the truth, not this page.
