How Much Is an Ounce of Weed in NYC? Real 2026 Dispensary Prices in Queens
Ground ounces from about $88, whole flower $110–$250, premium to $350 — before the 13% tax. Here is how to compare shops on the out-the-door number and how to tell a cheap ounce from a good one.

An ounce is 28 grams of flower — eight eighths, four quarters, or two half-ounces. It is the biggest single package a licensed New York dispensary can sell in one visit, and it is where the per-gram price finally gets reasonable. This is what an ounce actually costs at licensed shops in Queens right now, how the tax works, and how to judge whether a cheap ounce is a good ounce.
What an ounce costs in Queens right now
We pulled the posted menus of the licensed dispensaries around Jamaica on September 24, 2026. Menu prices are before tax unless a shop says otherwise.
- Ground flower / shake ounces: from about $88 before tax. That is roughly $100 out the door once New York's 13% adult-use tax is added.
- Whole-flower ounces: about $110 to $250 before tax depending on the grower, the strain and the THC.
- Premium and infused ounces (moonrocks, top-shelf indoor): $250 to $350 before tax.
At Silk Road NYC our whole-flower ounces currently start at $164 before tax (Synergy Lemon Cherry Gelato), and infused moonrock ounces sit at $350. Every price on our live menu shows the with-tax number under it, so nothing changes at the register.
The tax math nobody explains
New York charges 13% on adult-use cannabis at the register: 9% state and 4% local. A "$100 ounce" that is priced before tax costs $113. A "$100 ounce, tax included" costs $100. When you compare shops, compare the out-the-door number, not the sticker. Our specials page always states whether a deal is tax included.
Cheap ounce vs good ounce
A low price is only a deal if the flower holds up. Five things to check before you buy 28 grams of anything:
- Whole flower or shake? Ground flower and shake ounces are the cheapest category for a reason. They are fine for rolling and infusing, but they are not the same product as whole buds.
- THC and terpenes. New York requires lab-tested potency on the label. Mid-20s THC on whole flower is solid; the terpene percentage tells you more about flavor than the THC number does. Our strain library lists both for every strain we carry.
- Harvest and package dates. Flower loses terpenes over months, not years. Fresher is better, and a good budtender will tell you the date.
- Smalls vs full buds. "Smalls" are the small nugs from the same plant. Same genetics, lower price, slightly faster to dry out.
- The grower. New York's licensed cultivators range from craft indoor to large greenhouse. Our brand pages show who grows what.
Why we price ounces the way we do
Silk Road NYC is an owner-run, licensed dispensary at 166-30 Jamaica Ave (OCM-CAURD-24-000062). We buy direct from New York growers, we do not run a 40-store chain markup, and we would rather move an ounce at a fair price than let it sit. Rewards points accrue on every ounce, and same-day delivery is $1 in Jamaica and from $5 across Queens.
When we run an ounce special it shows up in three places within minutes: the specials page, the deal banners on the menu, and the ticker at the top of this site. If you are hunting for the best ounce price in Queens this week, check those first, then come see the jars in person.
