Queens Has More Languages Than Anywhere on Earth. Our Menu Speaks Six of Them.
There are somewhere between 600 and 800 languages spoken in the New York metro area — roughly ten percent of every language on Earth — and according to the linguists who actually count them, nowhere on the planet has more than Queens.

The language capital of the world
The Endangered Language Alliance — the only organisation in the world dedicated to mapping urban linguistic diversity — has documented more than 700 language varieties across 1,200 sites in New York City. The World Economic Forum called Queens the language capital of the world. Columbia’s researchers go further: New York is not only the most linguistically diverse city alive, but probably the most diverse in history — and with languages disappearing worldwide, there may never be another place like it.
That is not a marketing line. It is the borough we sell in.
What that looks like on Jamaica Avenue
Stand outside 166-30 Jamaica Ave for an hour. You will hear Bengali — this stretch is Little Bangladesh, and our owner is Bengali himself. You will hear Spanish, Haitian Creole, Guyanese English, Punjabi, Urdu. Ride the E or F a few stops and Flushing gives you Mandarin, Cantonese and Korean at a density you will not find outside of Asia.
Every one of those people is 21, has ID, and can legally buy cannabis in New York. Most dispensary websites hand them an English-only menu and hope for the best.

Not machine-translated captions bolted onto an English page. Each one is its own page at its own address, declared to search engines with proper hreflang markup so Google serves the right version to the right reader. English is the default; the switcher sits in the site menu.
Why a dispensary should bother
Three reasons, and only one of them is about money.
It is a legal product with real rules. Potency, dosing, the difference between 5mg and 100mg, what happens if you eat the whole package — that information has to be understood, not just displayed. A customer reading their fourth language is a customer guessing. On a product where guessing means a bad night, that is a safety issue before it is a service issue.
The legacy market never had a language barrier. Before legalisation, nobody needed a translated menu — you talked to a person. The licensed market replaced that conversation with a website, and in doing so quietly locked out the exact neighbourhoods that carried this plant for decades. Putting the menu back into people’s own languages is closer to how it used to work, not further from it.
And yes — it is our neighbourhood. A Bengali-owned dispensary in Little Bangladesh that cannot be read in Bengali would be a strange thing.
